It was just a year ago when Kevin and Sarah embarked on creating a creative community art studio. Now we have a creative space right in the middle of the town.
We have been making some changes at Unit6, to get ready for when we can safely open again. On the ground floor we have used our exhibition space to create 4 distinct ‘socially distancing’ art pods. Also exciting news, the pony box is nearing completion and will the create a cool art pod.
Using our main exhibition space means that we can actually house more resident artists than usual!
We have also cleared passageways to make them wider and in our upstairs areas, to help social distancing we have provided screens between each art pod. We have installed wall mounted hand sanitiser dispensers around the unit along with advisory signs to remind us how to keep safe.
So if lockdown provided you with the opportunity to release your creative side, get in contact with email@example.com to come and see our community creative space. You can book a desk for a long term project or have a weekly booking. Working in a space with other creatives, gives you chance to bounce ideas, collaborate and be part of a creative vibe.
Being an artist can be quite lonely, however a residency gives artists the opportunity to connect and collaborate. At Unit 6 we have creative spaces, these are bookable spaces for long term residency. Resident artists get free access to meeting space, WIFI, Kitchen facilities, wash out area and exhibition space. A rainbow for the NHS. We all wondered what Sarah could make of this old trampoline, during lockdown. Inspirational and thoughtful.

The team at Unit6 helped understand my exhibition requirements and helped with curation and hosting. Having this team support was so important to making the exhibition a success.
Great to see Unit 6 Director Jake Slee and business partner Sam Pasocoe are featured with their Lunch Box Vegetarian Cafe Business, in this months Devon Life magazine.
A great success at Burton Art Gallery for Unit 6’s Sarah Farrell-Roberts and Washhouse studio. Everyone got into printing with these cute Matisse style prints.
We are a passionate bunch of creatives with an extensive range of skills, but most of all, we have a passion for encouraging creativity in the community.
